Our Lenses
Your Lenses, Handcrafted for Your Eyes and Lifestyle. We don't just order your glasses, we build them.

We're a Finishing Lab. Here's Why That Matters.
Most people don't know this, but there's a real difference in how optical shops deliver your lenses. Many simply send out your frames and have the work fully completed at a different lab. We do things differently.
At The Looking Glasses, we are what's called a finishing lab. That means your lenses arrive here roughly the size of a hockey puck, and we do the rest. Using professional edging equipment, we cut each lens down to fit the precise measurements of your specific frame, combined with the personalized measurements we took from you: your pupillary distance, the height of your multifocal zone, and any other individual details that affect how your lenses actually work for you.
It's more work on our end, and that's the whole point. Being a finishing lab means we're hands-on in your quality control from start to finish. Your lenses aren't made somewhere and shipped to you. They're crafted right here.
We can also work with nearly any prescription, including high RX, and post-cataract surgery needs, migraine patients and more. Our goal is to truly get to know you so we can help you find the exact lens and frame combination for your eyes, your life, and how you spend your days.

Where We Source Our Lenses
We're proud to have sourced ours from the same place for over 30 years, Laramy-K Optical.
Laramy-K Optical is a privately owned, family-owned independent optical lab based in Iowa. They're not a big corporate supplier, they're a team of passionate independent opticians who care about quality and innovation, which is exactly why our family has trusted them for three decades. That kind of long-term relationship means we know their products inside and out, and we stand behind every lens we put in your frames.

Our Specialty Lens Options
Beyond your everyday prescription lenses, we carry a range of specialty lenses for specific needs and lifestyles. If you've ever wondered whether there's a better lens for the way you live, there just might be.
Customized Progressive Lenses Not all progressives are the same. We offer customized progressive lenses designed around your specific prescription and needs. The result is a more natural transition between distances and a wider, more comfortable field of vision.
Occupational Lenses If you spend long hours at a desk, on a computer, or in a specific work environment, occupational lenses are designed to optimize your vision for the distances you actually use throughout your day, no matter if you are on the computer, giving presentations, doing needlework, there is a specific lens for you.
Student Lenses Designed for younger eyes that spend a lot of time switching between close-up reading, screens, and the board at the front of the classroom. Student lenses support visual comfort and eye health and relax your eyes during long study hours.
Night driving: NightLite™ Lenses Available in prescription and non-prescription. If halos, glare, or scattered light have made you less confident driving at night, NightLite™ lenses are worth trying. This specialty coating filters a specific range of yellow light, cutting down on star and halo effects while improving color clarity — especially the reds, greens, and blues you need to read the road — without affecting your daytime vision at all. A lot of our customers genuinely can't believe the difference until they try them. Learn more at laramyk.com/nightlite.
Avulux® Migraine Lenses Available in prescription and non-prescription. We're really excited to now carry Avulux lenses, and if you or someone you love deals with migraines related to light sensitivity, this one is worth knowing about. Light triggers a large portion of migraine attacks, and Avulux lenses use a patented precision filter to absorb the most harmful migraine-triggering wavelengths — blue, amber, and red light — while letting in soothing green light. They have a subtle tint, work without distorting color, and can be worn both during a migraine and as a preventative throughout your day. Avulux is the only light sensitivity lens proven effective in an independent clinical trial at the highest standard of testing, and the response from patients who use them has been remarkable. You can read more about the technology at avulux.com/pages/how-avulux-works.
